TOI: A special demonstration on yoga for elderly persons, apart from various paper presentations on Sunday, marked the conclusion of the three-day Indian Aging Congress (IAC)-2010 at the Banaras Hindu University.
As per organising secretary IS Gambhir, a number of important orations on emotions and longevity, spirituality, community geriatric and palliative care in elderly was witnessed on the concluding day, highlighting some of the basic issues concerning older persons.
SD Gokhale (Pune) while explaining how spirituality improved quality of life in elderly also emphasised on proper medication and adherence to restrained life for longevity. Similarly, GP Dubey, a noted ayurveda expert, discussed ayurveda programme for elderly under Ayush.
Yoga expert Yogesh Kumar Bhatt displayed yoga exercises for old age along with paper presentation on yoga for healthy life.
It may be mentioned here that the department of medicine and division of geriatrics, BHU, organised the IAC-2010 that also witnessed joint conference of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics and Association of Gerontology. (by Ayurvedanews.com)
